Successful Qualitative Research: A Practical Guide for Beginners is an accessible, practical textbook. It sidesteps detailed theoretical discussion in favor of providing a comprehensive overview of strategic tips and skills for starting and completing successful qualitative research.

Uniquely, the authors provide a "patterns framework" to qualitative data analysis in this book, also known as "thematic analysis." The authors walk students through a basic thematic approach, and compare and contrast this with other approaches. This discussion of commonalities, explaining why and when each method should be used, and in the context of looking at patterns, will provide students with complete confidence for their qualitative research journey.

This textbook will be an essential textbook for undergraduates and postgraduates taking a course in qualitative research or using qualitative approaches in a research project.

This wonderful book should be compulsory for every qualitative researcher and actually every quantitative researcher, who will immediately reconsider their stance.Personally, I'm a mixed methods girl - but that's only because I was quantitative until I bought this book. Braun made a convert of me.

This book really helped me with my qualitative undergrad dissertation, it walks you through every stage of the dissertation process and is very detailed and easy to understand. Couldn't have done it without this book!

I cannot recommend this book enough for anyone studying psychology and writing qualitative research. I am currently writing my dissertation at masters level and have found this book invaluable. I've tried loads of other texts but find them complicate and dry. This is so incredibly easy to read and make sense of. It's life changing!

A necessity for anyone studying or wishing to know more about qualitative research. I owe my qualitative module 76% grade to this book.

Have you every had one of those occasions when your finding it difficult to understand a concept and then you come across something that is clear, easy to read and practical? You look at the other "more academic" texts and scream "Why did you just not said that in the first place?". This book is full of those moments. I wish i had bought this book first when I began reading around this area.

It calls itself "successful qualitative research" and whilst it is, predominantly it is about thematic analysis. That is one of the methods mostly used by the two authors of the book.I read this book many times over the past few months to aid with the analytical process in my doctorate. Whilst I was confident in my methods, this acted as an aide memoir. A very useful book for anyone doing thematic analysis in their research - guides you nicely through the process.Whilst it has been stated by some critical health psychologists that using an overtly formularised methodology as prescribed in this text adulterates the entire qualitative process, if you want to pass your degree then it can be helpful to evidence why you did what you did, and this book facilitates that!I'd recommend it.

This book provided a simple, clear instruction and explanation which pretty much saved my life when I did an in-depth interview study for my masters dissertation (my first attempt at qualitative research). I would definitely recommend it.
