I purchased this product for a friend who has social anxiety disorder: He started working his way through this and the improvement has been dramatic. It requires dedication and putting it into practice but I think as a book it's one of the better ones out there and has helped him a lot. I'd recommend this to anyone who has problems of this kind.

New updated version of this workbook. It's my 'bible' and although slightly a brick of a book, the content is invaluable. If you're wanting guidance and literature to help understand how to self help, how to understand and tackle anxieties and phobias, this is a book for you. Highly recommended.

This book is fantastic and just what I needed! I suffer from social anxiety, agoraphobia, and emetophobia, and I bought this book during a low point in my life when I was having frequent panic attacks and could barely leave the house. I'm a little over halfway through this book and I've already made a lot of progress in dealing with panic attacks, worrisome thoughts, and anxiety in general. This book has a ton of great info and advice, describes different types of anxiety disorders, and gives a very comprehensive approach to dealing with anxiety - from relaxation exercises, to self talk, to nutrition and exercise, and more! It also gives information on different types of medications for anxiety, if that is something you may need. I particularly liked the chapters of "Self Talk" and "Mistaken Beliefs" as I realized that much of my anxiety is created or is worsened by my negative thoughts and beliefs, and this book has helped me start to recognize them and replace them with more constructive and positive ones. It's a lot of work, I will say that. There's lots of reading and writing and reflecting, as well as changing your lifestyle and your life-long patterns of thinking. But I think it's all worth it. If any type of anxiety disorders are really limiting your life or making you miserable, I'd say to give this book a read and make the effort to put into practice all the advice this book gives.

This is probably the best book I have read about anxiety. Its almost as though it is written for me personally. I am working my way through it like a workbook and it really motivates me. I had been seeing a CBT therapist but gave up as I found this book so much better. Would definitely recommend it, even to those lucky ones who don't worry excessively!

This is not just a chalk and blackboard book, it is what it says it is: a workbook, which is very extensive and detailed, and has all sorts of information and useful excercises to help overcome anxiety, phobia, obsessive compulsions, panic attacks. It also helps you to explore the reasons why you might have got into that state in the first place. For example, it states that a fertile ground for breeding anxiety comes from having no aspirations or goals in your life to work to. It also has a section on what the different medications do, their pros and cons. This would empower you to make more informed choices if your doctor thinks it is a good idea to take them; or you may decide not to take them. However, books like this are only really usefull for those with good self determination to sort their own problems out. I would add that just using this book alone might not be quite enough, I would recommend that you also seek the help and guidance of a professional if you have serious mental health issues. This book is an excellent starting point though, for background information if nothing else. The best thing is to try and look at a few pages on line to see if it suits you.

ok and full of useful info but i think some of the questionnaire parts could be laid out better. one questionnaire on mistaken beliefs has about 60 questions then you have to cross reference a list of question numbers against a associated paragraph. so you end up going backwards and forwards e.g so if i answered to 1 3 7 21 54 19 its x but if it was 4 22 48 45 39 its this time the questions seem like a set of numbers. why not group the questions directly by the 5 or so paragraphs?seems obvious to me. so if you like lots of looking backwards and forwards and can remember many questions by its number this is the book for you i actually don't think the book needs to be this long. perhaps condense it a bit.

I purchased this book as I had been suffering from panic attacks, generalised anxiety and agoraphobia for the past year. It was absolutely soul destroying, as I am sure anyone who suffers from anxiety disorders will know!I was at the end of my tether and really did not want to start medicating but at the time I could see no other way. This was when I went online and found this book!I have been working through it for the past 6 weeks and have already noticed a huge decrease in my generalised anxiety. The great thing about this book is that you do not have to wait until you have finished it to start implementing the suggested techniques.I also liked the fact that it covers a wide range of factors; origin, breathing, relaxation and meditation, medication, diet, exercise, desensitisation, supplements and coping strategies. There are no time deadlines which allows you to work through your issues at your own pace.Reading this book will not cure you of your problems, that has to come from within as I am sure you know! What it does do is give you the tools you need to start getting your life back successfully. The only fault I found is not with the book itself, it's the translation to Kindle. The book reads absolutely fine, however there are a few worksheets at the back of the book that would have been useful to photocopy so that I could use them and a couple of questionnaires within the book that would have been easier to complete had I been able to write on the page itself. Not huge problems and they certainly haven't hindered my recovery.Apart from this, I cannot recommend this book enough. It has really helped me.I hope this helps.
